PNG or SVG for a Power BI background

A Power BI canvas background is usually a PNG or an SVG. Bento Designer exports both at the canvas size. The choice is about edges and file weight, not about the cell layout.

When PNG is enough

PNG is the usual export when the background is a flat colour grid. Desktop handles it, the file is one bitmap, and the page size is known.

It is also the right file if the background includes a photograph or a grain you do not want redrawn as paths.

When SVG stays sharper

SVG keeps cell edges clean if the report is shown large, or if you may change the page size later. A 16:9 PNG that is too small will soften.

Some tenants and older Desktop builds are fussy with SVG backgrounds. If the file does not load, export PNG at the canvas pixel size and use that.
