Why Power BI canvases are 16:9
A Power BI report page is a canvas with a fixed aspect ratio, usually 16:9. A background drawn at a different ratio will crop or letterbox. Bento Designer treats 16:9 as the default canvas so the export matches the page.
Why the ratio is fixed
The page is not a fluid website. Visuals are placed on a rectangle. If the background is 4:3 or a slide export, the cells will not line up with the visuals.
Meeting-room screens are 16:9. A report that is designed to that ratio is the one people actually see.
What I export
The canvas size in Bento Designer matches the report page. Export is PNG or SVG at that size.
If a report is a different ratio, the canvas is changed first. The cells are not stretched after the fact.
Questions
What aspect ratio is a Power BI report page?
Usually 16:9. The background has to match that ratio or the cells will crop when the image is applied.
Does Bento Designer export 16:9 canvases?
Yes. 16:9 is the default canvas. Export is PNG or SVG at the canvas size so the file matches the report page.
